The best small town food festivals across Texas

The “World’s Largest Strawberry Shortcake” is one of the most delicious highlights during the annual Pasadena Strawberry Festival. This year it kicks off on May 19.

There is a festival for nearly everyone’s favorite food in Texas this year. You just might need to plan a few road trips this summer to get your fill.

Some range from the savory, like Lamesa’s Original Chicken-Fried Steak Festival out in West Texas, to the all-out iconic, like the Terlingua International Chili Championship which has reached legend status across the state.

Of course you could also hit up at least two pecan festivals, like the ones in Tatum (very pie-friendly) and the Groves Pecan Festival in Groves.

If you hurry up and make plans, you can still make the Texas Onion Fest in Weslaco coming up on March 25 in the Rio Grand Valley. Texas county legend Johnny Lee is the headlining musical guest.
